9.30am to 10am: Arrival and coffee (no onsite registration)
10am to 12pm: A/Prof Ivan Darby (periodontist) - Scaling: Is there a wrong way?
The aim of scaling and root planning is to remove impediments to good patient oral hygiene and to create a biologically compatible root surface for re-attachment of the epithelium. However, does this mean that there is a right or wrong way of approaching plaque and calculus removal? Many methods of debridement have been proposed and this presentation will discuss the more common and their effectiveness.
12pm to 1pm: Lunch and trade
1pm to 2pm: Nelle Frances (author) – Autism and the dental team.
This presentation is aimed to provide oral health professionals with reliable information and support in their exposure with Asperger's Syndrome & Autistic Spectrum Disorder patients. To recognize and validate the thoughts and perspective of an Asperger child will promote acceptance, understanding and tolerance of the dental environment. Nelle hopes to empower you with a bit of knowledge to take control of your professional experiences with Asperger's Syndrome pedo patients and create a positive path forward as you support and accommodate the Asperger child.
